Background
Appleseed is a nonprofit network of public interest justice centers and professionals dedicated to building a society where opportunities are genuine, access to the law is universal and equal, and government advances the public interest.
Position
This position provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about fundraising and communications in the national nonprofit arena in a creative, collegial, and energetic office. Previous fundraising experience is not required, but candidates should have an interest in nonprofit, mission-based organizations.
Responsibilities will include: maintaining contribution and contact information in a database; coordinating solicitation and communications including but not limited to drafting and or editing correspondence; conducting prospect research and list building; tracking donors and managing prospect lists; maintaining detailed records and reports of major donors; conducting basic online research of grant-making foundations for purposes of letters of inquiry and proposals; and collaboration on other projects with staff as assigned, including the Development Director and Event Planner on fundraising events.
Qualifications and Requirements
The candidate should be skilled in time management, organization, accuracy and attention to detail. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Knowledge of DonorPerfect is a plus. The candidate’s academic and/or employment record should demonstrate success in a fast-paced environment where multitasking and priority setting abilities were critical to success. Working effectively as a member of a very motivated and close-knit team is essential, as is a flexible attitude.
Interested candidates should submit cover letter and resume to Meredith Barnes at mbarnes@appleseednetwork.org. Please note this is an unpaid internship.
