UPDATE: Driver Killed in Williamston, MI Crash Did Not Wear Seat Belt

We posted a news story on January 1st about a two vehicle crash in Williamston, MI resulted in death.  There have been some additional information released that we wanted to share with our readers.  At the time of our reporting, it was not known which driver was killed or who it was.  James Stewart of Saginaw MI, was identified as the killed driver.  He was only 20 years old and was a current Western Michigan University Student.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

This was a classic head-on collision which is the most dangerous type of accident possible.  To make matters even worse, James Stewart failed to wear a safety belt before the crash.  This gave him very little chance of surviving such a deadly and violent crash.  The other driver’s condition is still unknown as the authorites have yet to release anything.  Michigan State Police confirmed that it was a head on collission and that he wasn’t wearing a safety belt.

Police are still conducting an investigation into the accident and are looking for witnesses.  If you saw anything or someone that did, please have them conctact the Meridian Township Police at (517) 853-4800.
